Recruitment to the post of Assistant Surgeon in Junior Class-I of Odisha Medical Service Cadre under Health & Family Welfare Department

Applications in the prescribed form are invited from the prospective candidates for recruitment to 750(seven hundred fifty) posts of Assistant Surgeons in Junior Class-I of Odisha Medical Service cadre under Health & Family Welfare Department in the pay band of Rs.15,600-39100/- plus grade pay Rs.5400/- with usual dearness and other allowances sanctioned by Government of Odisha from time to time. The posts are temporary and likely to be made permanent.

AGE : A candidate must be under 32 (thirty-two) years and above 21 (twenty-one) years of age on the 1st August, 2011.

The upper age limit is relaxable by 5(five) years for candidates belonging to Socially & Educationally Backward Classes (S.E.B.C.), Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Women and Ex-Servicemen and by 10(ten) years for Physically Handicapped candidates (Orthopaedically Handicapped).

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION :

(i) A candidate must be a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) from any recognized University in the Indian Union or possess equivalent qualification or be a holder of a registrable medical qualification from a recognized Medical College in United Kingdom.

(ii) After passing the final M.B.B.S. examination, where M.B.B.S. course is of 4 ½ years duration, a candidate must have successfully completed Housemanship for at least one year. But if a candidate has passed the final M.B.B.S. examination of five years course, where there is no obligatory rotating Housemanship prior to award of the M.B.B.S. degree, he/she must have completed successfully Housemanship for at least six months on or before the last date prescribed for receipt of application for the above post.

(iii) In case he/she has acquired M.B.B.S. degree from a foreign University, he/she is required to have passed the screening test conducted by the National Board of Examination as prescribed by the Medical Council of India vide Notification No.MCI-203(9) Regn.2001, dated 13.02.2002.

(iv) A candidate before appointment will have to register himself/herself under the Odisha Medical Registration Act, 1961, if not, already registered.


EXAMINATION FEE : A candidate is required to pay a non-refundable and non-adjustable fee of Rs.50/- (Rupees fifty) only either in shape of deposit of the amount in the Government Treasury under the Head “0051-P.S.C.-105-State P.S.C. Examination Fee”, or Account Payee Bank Draft/Pay Order drawn in favour of Special Secretary, Odisha Public Service Commission payable at any Scheduled Bank at Cuttack. Treasury Challan with wrong mention of Head of Account or wrong mention of designation of the authority in the Bank Draft/Pay Order shall not be accepted. The original Treasury Challan/Bank Draft/Pay Order, as the case may be, must be sent to the Commission along with the application. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes of Odisha only are exempted from payment of this fee. Neither claim for refund of fee will be entertained nor the fee will be held in reserve for any other recruitment/purpose. Applications not accompanied by the prescribed fee shall be summarily rejected.
